The place

SaltBay is run by people who will remember your name and how you take your tea. Mornings begin with birdsong over the lawn; afternoons belong to the wind on the lagoon; evenings end with seafood at the long table.

Cabanas under the palms

Recently rebuilt and eco-friendly, each private cabana has air conditioning, a large four-poster bed, its own bathroom and an open-air shower. The verandah day-bed is where afternoons disappear.

Economy rooms with shared bathrooms offer the same garden and table at a gentler price.

The lagoon is the classroom

Flat, shallow water and dependable wind make Kalpitiya one of the finest places in the world to learn. Our licensed instructors teach every level, gear rental is on site, and the shuttle to the lagoon is free for guests.

Eat

Cooked here, eaten together

Seafood from the bay, Sri Lankan rice and curry, pizza, pasta and BBQ nights — all from our own kitchen, with fresh juices, shakes and herbal drinks through the day.

The day starts gently: pancakes and eggs, papaya and avocado from the garden, a king coconut opened at the table. What the market lands in the morning decides the evening — some nights it's lobster, some nights the barbecue burns late.

Meals happen at the long wooden table in the open-air restaurant, looking out over the lawn. Eat with the other guests or take a table of your own — the kitchen doesn't mind.
